Planner II

Pay Scale: $30–$45 Per Hour (DOE)

 

Job Description

As a Planner at WCEP, a typical day will consist of pre-fielding, fielding, and preparing work orders for overhead electric distribution designs, with a primary focus on deteriorated pole (det pole) replacements. The ideal candidate will have 3 years of overhead experience (required) and 1 year specifically working on det pole jobs (preferred). This role requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to manage work across all utility regions—including Barstow, Bishop, Blythe, LA County, and more. A successful candidate will be detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities, and willing to travel for fielding assignments as needed.

• Location: Remote work environment is available. Candidate must be willing to travel throughout various regions in Southern California for fielding assignments. Office located in Fullerton, CA.

• Equipment: WCEP will provide all equipment necessary to complete the job; laptop, monitors, keyboard, general safety equipment. Candidate must provide their own personal boots and pants.

• Personal Owned Vehicle: Candidate is required to have a personal vehicle available for fieldwork. Compensation will be provided to offset vehicle usage costs.

• Complete pre-fielding, fielding, and planning for overhead work orders, with a focus on deteriorated pole replacements.

• Comfortable working across all utility regions and adjusting to varying terrain and travel distances.

• Complete fielding and job walks safely according to WCEP and utility standards.

• Communicate clearly and effectively with team leads, designers, and external stakeholders.

• Identify and escalate any issues or scope changes encountered during the fielding or planning process.

• Meet deadlines and manage multiple jobs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

• Plan daily with team lead regarding job and task priorities.

• Maintain accurate job notes and participate in status tracking.

• Prompt and professional communication via email, Teams, and phone.

• Track and report time accurately, and notify team lead of planned time off.

• Learn and use necessary utility software systems.

• Drive personal vehicle and maintain valid Driver’s License, registration, and insurance.

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and field jobs in various outdoor conditions.

 

Qualifications & Prerequisites

 

• High School Diploma required.

• Minimum 3 years of overhead electric utility experience (required).

• Minimum 1 year of experience planning deteriorated pole replacements (preferred).

• Familiarity with utility safety standards and regional fielding techniques.

• Comfortable managing multiple job scopes across wide geographic areas.

• Detail-oriented and capable of producing high-quality, accurate plans.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in a fast-moving environment.

• Proficient in navigating computer systems and using multiple software tools.

• Collaborative and dependable communicator who contributes to overall team success.
